My Power Flower paintings have been so much fun to make. As with many creative ventures, my Power Flowers series started with an experiment. I had been using pigmented venetian plaster on board with oils and watercolor and decided to try using pastels. I started drawing a flower that I have drawn since childhood. I loved the effect of pastel on the venetian plaster as the colors were so bright and vivid which the texture of the plaster enhanced. My first Power Flowers show was in May of 2007. I had no idea what to expect - I just knew that these colors and flowers made me so happy. The positive response was fantastic - and viola - Power Flowers in all of its forms was born.
